Extended Day Programs

Out-of-School Care at VSIE

We are pleased to offer 10 spaces in our Out-of-School Care program, available to VSIE students from dismissal until 5:30 pm daily.

Our OSC program reflects the same holistic, child-centred values at the heart of a VSIE education. Each afternoon, children enjoy a rich blend of self-directed, adult-directed, and outdoor activities — with at least 30 minutes of active play every day.

Activities

Self-Directed Activities

Children can explore a variety of centres including:

  • Art

  • Science explorations

  • Building centre (Lego, marble works, bristle blocks, and more)

  • Puppet theatre with a variety of puppets and materials for making puppets

  • Dramatic play: skits, kitchen centre, and more

  • Library centre

  • Writing, drawing, and bookmaking centre

  • Puzzles and board games

Outside Play

Each day students enjoy outdoor time, including:

  • The playground at Oaklands Park

  • The school yard with balls, hockey equipment, skipping ropes, hula hoops, bubbles, and more

  • Outdoor art: paint easels, clay, nature collage

  • Nature walks in the neighbourhood

  • Sensory station: water, sand, play dough

  • Gardening

Adult-Directed Activities

Adult-directed time brings the group together for stories, songs, music, group games, and arts and crafts.

Out-of-School Care Hours

Monday - Friday: 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

How to Apply

Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee. An addition to the waitlist can also be added upon a full group. To apply or learn more, please contact us.
