The Foundation of Learning: Calm & Focused Attention

At VSIE, we understand that true learning flourishes when one feels calm, safe, and relaxed. When an environment or mind is dysregulated, it can deplete a child's energy and ability to focus on the task of "editing out" extraneous information coming into their mental and sensory processing.

For children learning to develop their focus and self-regulation, it is paramount to learn how to find their place of calm. This inner stillness serves as a powerful foundation for all their experiences, both academic and personal.

Consciousness-based Education: Our Core Philosophy

At the heart of a VSIE education is our unique Consciousness-based Education (CBE), where "Knowledge is Structured in Consciousness." Schools around the world offering CBE are characterized by the profound respect and affection between students and their teachers, and by the kindness and cooperation in the students’ interactions with each other.

Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI): Understanding the Laws of Nature

VSIE students develop an integrated, unified vision of all aspects of life through their study of the principles of the Science of Creative Intelligence — the study of the laws of nature which structure and uphold growth and progress in all of nature, including human life.

Our Teachers: Guiding with Purpose

In addition to the daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique, a technique for eliminating stress, our teachers employ Principles of Ideal Teaching. Using these principles means that the teacher:

Maintains a respectful relationship with each student that values their uniqueness.

Connects whatever we teach to a bigger reality: start with the whole, teach the parts, and go back to the whole.

Lets the students know they can learn & it will be useful.

Prepares experiences that open the door for inquisitive thinking, inspiring the students to want more knowledge.

These principles are designed to enliven receptivity and intelligence in the students and to enhance their knowledge and experience, making learning joyful, successful, and fulfilling.

Nature-based Learning

Throughout our school, we have a constant focus on nature. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 aim for one full day a week of outdoor learning, with continuous flexibility for indoor and outdoor lessons across all grades.
Daily Meditation Practice

All children from Kindergarten through Grade 5 begin with a Word of Wisdom walking Meditation. When they are 10 years old or Grade 5 they progress to a seated medication practice twice a day.
Holistic & Personalized Growth

Embracing the principle that "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts," we provide an environment that supports each child's overall needs through small classroom sizes (8-14 students), ensuring differentiated learning and one-on-one support.
